PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Master of Nursing (Midwifery) KPT/JPS(FA 1530)07/22

The course Masters of Nursing (Midwifery) provides the opportunity to develop and enhance their knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to care for patients/clients to the highest professional standards across the health care sphere. This postgraduate nursing coursework programs are design to specialize in midwifery, that deliver an advanced training on maternal and child health or neonatal intensive care services. During perusing this course students will continue learning,gathering new information, and use that information to improve the sphere of technology applications and improving the quality of life, to provide contemporary midwifery nursing interaction for the primitive, curative and rehabilitative of the women across the life span.

For successful completion of Masters degree in LUC, each candidate should publish minimum of Two research articles in scopus indexed journals, with Lincoln affiliation.

To provide skills and practices based upon advanced midwifery advanced knowledge and skill competency so as to uphold high employ ability and adaptability to new technology in health care setting.

  • To provide profound knowledge in theory of health care policies and innovation and oriented thinking, so as to gain competency in midwifery nursing care, as well as managing and process research and developmental activities.

  • To provide a capability to solve midwifery nursing problems, think critically, leadership role with the portrayal of team spirit and efficient communication ability regarding midwifery, women’s health and health care delivery system at large.

  • To provide opportunities for higher learning and research, with due regard to the changing needs of midwifery and women’s health the present time and the new millennium.

Master in Nursing (Midwifery) are the skilled health professionals who practice in a wide variety of clinical settings, diagnosing and treating patients as well as referring them to a specialist, if required. Entry Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing related with minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by Lincoln University College Senate; or
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing related degree not meeting CGPA of 2.75 but above CGPS of 2.75 but above CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; AND
  3. Registered with Nursing Board or its equivalent, AND
  4. Possess current Annual Practicing Certificate; AND
  5. Minimum 3 years working experience for bachelor’s degree holders, AND
  6. Advanced Diploma / Certificate / Post Basic in Midwifery, AND
  7. Health status:
    1. Students must be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution.
    2. Students with the following medical conditions, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B or C, any mental health disorders, epilepsy, and other chronic disease cannot be admitted into the programme.
    3. Students must not have any physical or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity.
  8. Pass Lincoln University College Entry Placement Test; or equivalent; or
  9. International students require to have one of the following approvals, namely:
    1. A pass in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall Band Score of minimum 5.5; or
    2. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
      1. TOEFL Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) a minimum score of 515.
      2. TOEFL Computer Based Test (TOEFL CBT) a minimum score of 215.
      3. TOEFL Internet Based Test (TOEFL IBT) a minimum score of 80.
    3. Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)
    4. Cambridge Proficiency English (CPE)
    5. Pearson Test of English (PTE)
